Bottled July 2025. Purchased at Jailbreak January 2026. Opened 1/22/2026. Super rich, sweet, malty and not surprisingly very bourbon forward. Extremely smooth and velvety with a bit of back burn with the 13%abv.
Expected double dark body with brief but attractive 1/2” of tan creamy head with @ 50degree F pour into Sapwood stemless chalice.
Nose somewhat soft but noteworthy for dark fruit, vanilla and booze. Taste expands that. A rich British style old ale surrounded by a delicious blend of bourbon whiskies and barrel wood. The enormous bourbon influence somewhat mutes complexity but still produces a delicious , luscious brew. Body does have a slight bit of burn, but really stands out because the burn is so small and not a detriment. Extremely enjoyable sipper. Love this collab between 2 very good MD breweries who each do an excellent job of merging multiple barrels / multiple beers. A natural pairing between like minds.
