A Blend of Golden Sour Beers Aged in Oak Barrels With Chardonnay Musqué Pomace and Passionfruit.
Our friends at Trail Estate Winery in Prince Edward County pressed Chardonnay Musqué grapes last fall and donated the remaining pomace to us. We racked out first ever beer onto this pomace. After only 5 days, the tannin quality was amazing! The beer was returned to barrels to soften out for a further 5 months. While this beer was very interesting on its own, we selected one barrel to blend with a 7 month old beer aged on passionfruit. The resulting unique balance of flavours was perfect to be the first exclusive release to you, our Culture Club members!

Bottle: Poured a clear bright golden color ale with good carbonation with small bubbly head with no retention or lacing. Aroma of strong lactic acid notes with some sour notes and light fruity notes are also perceptible. Taste is a good mix of lactic acid, light oak with some passion fruit and light acidic notes. Body has an oily texture with good carbonation. Not bad but the acidic notes were a bit overwhelming and hides some of the more complex flavours.

Pours a clear golden yellow with no head; only minimal carbonation upon a vigorous pour. Smells like a musty vineyard with a hint of a floral note and passionfruit. Upfront taste is tart passionfruit with the mild sweetness of white grapes. Mouth feel is overall dry and thin, carbonation is hardly perceptible but present. Excellent beer, reminds me of a good Belgiun gueuze.
Great work by Small Pony. They have exceeded my expectations.
