That orange glow of fresh Toppy
Like beacon shining bright,
Its juicy hops on full display

Had Toppy Rock at Abridged's original brewpub, Knoxville, Tenn., on draft into willi becher.
Pours orange juice-gold with 1-finger-plus, creamy, near-white head, with good retention leaving chunky rings of Belgian lace down the glass. Off pour, aromas of orange initially, and a burst of pineapple, immediately overwhelmed by resin, with the pineapple aroma resurfacing and tropical melon aroma in evidence as warms. On tasting, begins with big, bitter hop resin, then some tart fruit, perhaps persimmon, as the tart resin carries into big pineapple, and then sweet orange, before a very crisp, drying, resinous, grapefruit finish.
The obvious call is Big Orange, but there's also lots of resin and many other fruits in this modern, somewhat confusing (NE haze and sweetness? West Coast resin and dryness?), mid-American IPA.
