Appearance: Clear, brilliant copper. Off white thin head with short retention.
Aroma: Rustic, woody/herbal aroma. Caramel malt.
Flavor & Aftertaste: Alcohol not detectible. Rustic, woody/herbal/spicy & caramel malt flavors. Mild bitterness that dissipates quickly. Fairly dry start to finish. Definitely, not sweet or sticky.
Palate: No astringency, low carbonation. Solidly medium bodied. Dry start to finish. Short clean finish.
Overall: This is a well crafted English bitter style. It's a beautiful, clear dark copper with short head retention (which is typical of the style as I understand it). Drinks easy and, despite its style name, not aggressively bitter at all. Malt forward and accented with a rustic, woody hops aroma a flavor. On the high side of ABV for the style, but still sessionable compared to something like an IPA. Akademia is well know in the region for Stouts and IPAs, but they are VERY underappreciated for more classic styles like Kolsch, Helles and this Bitter.

Poured from a nitro tap, rich head, a bit hazy, some nuttiness. Tasty but not exceptional. An easy drinking ESB. A solid sessionable ale.
