Imperial Stout with pan de muerto, orange peel and vanilla,
66.6 IBU
39 SRM
Named for the Mayan underworld, Xibalba Imperial Stout de Muerto is packed full of holiday flavors from fresh baked Pan de Muerto used to bolster the mash alongside zesty Valencia orange rind and organic Mexican vanilla. These delicate flavors are balanced by a moderate bitterness that gives way to roasty chocolate notes and a finish smooth enough to raise a pint or two in honor of the ones we cherish in the afterlife.

Half inch dense tan head. Pours at a thinness appropriate for the abv (8% on my can). Hints of coffee with the roast wiht a pleasant chocolate that is more apparent probably enhanced by the vanilla. Really opaque for size, no hints of color. A little hint of fruit (orange).
Nice complexity in the taste as well. The orange shows nicely in the roasty flavor with less chocolate here than in the aroma. The orange adds a touch of sweetness as well. Prominent bitterness middle to it's long finish. The decreased chocolate also brings less vanilla. More roast than the other flavors.
Body is pretty thin, as it looked like it might be on the pour.
Listen, this is a perfectly legitimate beer in the middle of Mexico. No complaints. Thicker, heavier and bigger may be too much for the weather here.
