Glossy black but for polished brown edges with a tan head settling to a thin film leaving peaky tan lacing.
This is surprisingly forward of black licorice notes, and is a little spicy and peppery. Accents of weirdly sharp, almost funky molasses are paired with a sort of red fruit note.
The frothy soft full body is quite filling on the palate, but that quickly comes to a paper dry finish.
The barrel aged version is the clear winner here.
