While it pours what appears to be a dark muddy brown, in the glass it settles to a wide mahogany black pillar with clear dark garnet edges pushing back towards the center, all under a thin khaki head that fizzles out to a silky surface.

Charred oak and toasty malt lead a moderate acidity where the cherry is apparent enough, even exhibiting luxardo qualities at times before further developing into red wine characteristics. Before it goes to far in that direction, it comes back to that char flavor accented by a lactic cheesy funk.

The Flemish character in flavor makes it taste like it might be too sour, but in feel it maintains balance. The body is medium but fairly rounded, yet slick with a lightly bubbly, fine carbonation that leads into a semi-dry, lightly sticky finish.
