look: 3.75 | smell: 3.5 | taste: 3.5 | feel: 3.75 | overall: 3.5
Strong mahogany color and massive but brief off white head start us off. The nose is fresh cut grass and medicinal and floral hop notes. The sip confirms the idea that darker color increases the roasted character of this brew. This make it a little hard to judge fairly as an ESB. The roasted malt and cola tones are more likely to inspire thoughts of schwarzbiers or even a porter. This one is very far off my idea of an ESB, but not a bad beer.
