Poured from a can into a pint glass
Appearance – The beer pours a dark brown color with a one finger head of tan colored foam. The head has a good level of retention, fading slowly over time to leave a light level of foamy lace on the sides of the glass.
Smell -The aroma of the brew is massive of a jelly and peanut butter smell mixed with a decent showing of what and some toasted and roasted malt smells. Along with these smells comes notes of chocolate as well as a little bit of must and hay. Overall, the aroma is big and delicious, smelling like a toasted pb sandwich with a bit of chocolate.
Taste – The taste begins with a sweet grape and strawberry jam taste mixed with a lighter level of peanut butter and some toasted malt flavors. Upfront there is also some light cocoa tastes as well as a touch of a molasses. The sweet jam tastes grow even stronger as the taste advances, but are accompanied by a sticky creamy peanut butter flavor. Toward the end a touch of wheat joins the taste, leaving one with a rich, toasted and sweet pb&j sandwich taste to linger on the tongue.
Mouthfeel – The body of the brew is thick and chewy with a carbonation level that is on the lower side. For the mix of big peanut butter, jam, roast, and light wheat flavors the feel is great making for a rich dessert like feel, allowing for all the big flavors to be well appreciated.
Overall – A lightly toasted pb&j sandwich in a glass. Very tasty and sweet. A nice dessert brew for sure.
