i really like these guys, one of the most unsung breweries in town, i think people drive by and just think its a homebrew shop, but the beers they are making really are outstanding. this is a cool one here too, a stronger pale cream ale base with some coffee in it, cold brew i would think given the low acidity and its lack of warming characteristics, instead it almost increases the refreshment value, a summery cold coffee vibe, and a little goes a long way because even though the base beer is a little stronger, its very light in flavor, crisp even, and it allows the coffee to stand out so much in nose and taste. it must have been just off fully fresh when i had it, the slightest green pepper oxidation to the coffee in the nose but i dont taste it. a little sweetness from the malt to balance the roasted bitterness of the java, simple really overall, but compatible, and the idea that the base cream ale is a little stronger than is conventional i think is a really smart call here, its not all coffee, its elevated, its awesome. if they keep making beers this creative and good, it wont be long before they are on the map! this is the kind of coffee beer i want to drink all year long.
