an objectively good beer here, but something a little different for the american ipa style. first off, this place is awesome, some of the best wood fired pizza i have ever had, and ive had a lot of it. the beer in here is totally secondary to their wine and cocktails, but make no mistake, its excellent! all organic too from what i understand, at least this one is. its a wet hopped ipa i believe, super pale from the tap, radiantly carbonated, and subtle as they go, with more of a european grassy herbal or floral hop complexion rather than the over the top dry hopped tropical fruity or intensely piney and bitter profiles we are used to in the style. i like the subtle nuances of the hops, and i like the overall balance that this has. a really light and dry malt base too, just big enough for the hops in here and no more, light bodied for the style but still supporting the oily properties of the hops just fine. carbonation is excellent, this really sparkles, and in the dry finish, its a cool way to wrap this up, i wish more hoppy beers took this textural approach! a really simple overall brew, sort of from the earth, delicate as the style goes, but highly refined and really actually surprisingly good considering you dont hear much about the beer aspect of this place. well worth stopping in for a pie and a pint!
