Served in a snifter at Emmett's Palatine 7/20/08. Thanks to HeatherAnn for the assist!

A: Served a crystal-clear, pale-golden color with a slightly off-white head. Lots of lace coated the inside of the glass and as far as carbonation goes, this was quite still.

S: Aromas of toasted grain, lemon-y noble hops, and a touch of alcohol.

T: See above. The alcohol flavor livens up as it warms.

M: Prickly at first, smooth in the middle, and then spicy and dry during the finish. Light alcohol heat in the finish as well.

D: Surprisingly good. The alcohol was very minor at first, came on a little stronger as it warmed, but never became intrusive.

Sampled on tap at the Dundee location. Served in a modified snifter glass, "because of the high alcohol content." Came off chill hazed sunny yellow with a wisp of a head and decent lacing. Aroma of earthy hops and grassy malts.
Though the carbonation was enough to make it go down easy, it seemed thicker than expected. Starts out with a chalky, grassy malts, but is finished with a hefty dose of what I usually just chalk up to "European hops." Not sure what specifically the flavor is, but it is usually associated with Euro-macro-lagers. Plays out well here, with a great dose of complexity. ETOH is very well hidden, though the brew finishes very dry.
