Served in an imperial pint glass at the Palatine brewpub.
Man, I hate watching IU win at things... Anyway, this stuff pours a dark garnet-brown topped by a finger of glowing khaki foam. The nose comprises pine sap, light grapefruit rind, mild molasses, mild maple syrup, and soft cocoa. The taste brings in more of the same, with the pine sap really overpowering all else and destroying any hope of balance with the malty backdrop. The body is a light medium, with a light moderate carbonation and a drying finish. Overall, I feel this attempt at a hoppy brown comes close to success, but falls short due to lack of balance. Still, it's not outright bad, just in need of tweaking, so to speak.
