From notes made at the brewery.
Appearance: One finger of head that didn't stick around, didn't lace and while the body is a bright red, there seems barely much in the way of carbonation. That said, I did note the light wasn't the greatest.
Smell: Toffee, Barley and grapes, but the beer needs time to warm out to get to good potency here. When it does, Fig and plum notes come out.
Taste: Starts with Toffee paired with an Earthiness which subsides as the Toffee works with fig, grape and a slight lemon touch at the end with floral and earthy ops. The lemon note is subtle, and it as well as the bitter earth at the start makes for something unique. That said, it is a bit off the beaten path.
Mouthfeel: Despite not a lot of signs of it, the carbonation here is solid. The transisitoning is a bit rocky, with how it works with it's bitter and fruitier notes. That said, that bitter earthiness dominates the aftertaste which I'm not a huge fan of. Lack of head is also an enemy here.
Drinkability: Medium body, which is a bit out of character here. Usually I find this style leans towards far thicker. It is refreshing to drink, but oddly a bit gassy but yet settles well.
FInal Thoughts: I didn't write a lot here, only, interesting spin on Irish Red, but wish it gave more time. My implication here is the beer is quick to get down, which for this style, I generally would prefer it be a bit heavier and more of a sipper. That said, it's not bad by any means and would certainly have again if offered.
