Guinness Open Gate Brewery & Barrel House "Prowess Wheat"
16 fl. oz. can "PKG on 3/28/23 L3087PC001" and sampled on 12 May 2024
$15.99/4-pk at the brewery on 11 May 2023
Notes via stream of consciousness: This is an American wheat beer brewed with orange peel. A rough pour has brought up a massive head of white foam atop a lightly hazy golden body. Subsequent topping up has left me with a densely creamy half-inch of bright white foam. The aroma suggests lightly sweetish golden malt with just a hint of wheat, and some floral and fruity notes. The flavor follows pretty much exactly. There's a very subtle spiciness that helps the moderate bitterness to dry it in the finish. In the mouth it's light-medium in body and gently crisp. The head held up fairly well initially, although I did go to the effort to build it up, and the lacing is pretty good with some rings of craggy lace coming forth through a tattered veil that covers most of the glass. In the end this is a very approachable, and quaffable beer that has a little bit of extra character but not much. That little twist helps to keep it interesting, and it's quite refreshing.

We love reviews (150 characters or more)! Check out: How to Review a Beer. You don't need to get fancy. Drop some thoughts on the beer's attributes (look, smell, taste, feel) plus your overall impression. Something that backs up your rating and helps others. Thanks!
