Pretty much the definition of a tasting room - though without the "room" part. All outdoor seating, with a gas firepit in the middle (and I want to say some tower heaters) of an slab of asphalt between two businesses on one of the downtown Monterey streets. Service is at the counter, with bathrooms in a shipping container (but quite decent despite the "crude" impression). Only one person behind the counter when we were there, being fairly informative to customers, but also a bit of a bottleneck. We weren't in any hurry, and I can't say if that is normal, so the friendly service gets the benefit of the doubt.
The beers were pretty solid, though nothing really stood out. We stopped by at the end of the day, so we weren't being too critical. It was not very busy at all, and I could see stopping by with friends on a nice day when the outdoor seating could be truly enjoyed would be a nice respite.

Very cool vibe. Cool ocean air cut by warm fire. Staff was somewhat knowledgable about what they were pouring. IPA's and Pilsners were pretty solid but had a Belgian that was just ok.

It amazes me how rapidly Fieldwork expanded across northern California. Each of their satellite branches has its own character, while remaining true to what we’d expect from them. Their Monterey location is run out of a shipping container, next to a Peet’s and Chipotle. All outdoor seating. A perfect combination on the day of my visit.

There's no actual building to go into it's just a taphouse in an outside area but this place was awesome! Every beer we tried was delicious and we left with a growler full of Black Ships which is their Impy Stout which was one of the highlights of our entire trip. Highly recommend this spot if you're in or around the area!

This is a really cool spot. The weather is usually fantastic, and they have a nice space for people to hang out and drink beer. The beer is served from a converted shipping container, samples are poured into full-sized glasses, and flights come in a wooden crate. When we were there they had to-go cans and a good variety of beers available. Nothing was even remotely average, all the beers were great. IPAs were the standouts, but they also had a killer coffee stout and a couple sour options. Highly recommended.
