Opaque Thoughts is our Milkshake IPA Series. The first flavor out of the gate on this series is Guava. This NEIPA is brewed with an extreme amount of toasted rice flakes, oats, wheat and lactose before being conditioned on the perfect amount of Guava puree and Papa New Guinea Vanilla Bean. We then dry-hopped this with a ridiculously delicious combination of Mosaic, Hallertau Blanc and Strata at nearly 6lbs per barrel.

A: The beer is hazy whitish yellow in color. It poured with a quarter finger high white head that left a narrow collar around the edge and some lacing down the sides of the glass.
S: Moderate aromas of vanilla are present in the nose along with notes of guava.
T: The taste follows the smell, except that the flavors of guava are a bit more balanced with those of the vanilla.
M: It feels medium-bodied and a bit smooth on the palate with a moderate amount of carbonation.
O: This NEIPA is packed with lots of vanilla in the smell and taste and makes for a nice dessert beer.

Opaque yellow with a white cap. Pink guava, passion fruit, vanilla, table sugar, and hints of peach in the nose. Taste is the same only I also get hints of strawberry near the finish. More than sweet, hops actually provide some bitterness on the finish to stop the taste or feel from running away on you. Loving everything I have had from MW so far!

Getting a lot of mosaic dankness from this in the nose and taste. Sweetness from the guava helps to balance that out. Mild bitterness. Excellent mouthfeel - thicc, smooth, pillowy, with a slight bit of hop burn in the throat. Look out for these guys, big things coming in the future.

16oz can into a pint glass. Canned 5/11/20, so over a month old.
Looks nice enough in the glass. Standard murky orange/pear juice colored body. Small white head shrinks to a thick ring leaving flecks of lacing.
Dull non citrus fruit aroma.
Pleasant enough taste. Guava comes through, a little sweet, no vanilla, though it does coat the tongue a bit. A light bitterness and a faint warmth.
Mouth closer to full than medium, finish a clean fruity hint of bitterness.
Overall, nice drink, not spectacular, but goes down easier than the 8.0abv would recommend.

At this point, Milkshake IPA’s to the Raul man is like dating a chick who is a Drama major. Like, we can get into some radical Eugene O’Neill or Tennessee Williams quality, but then again, she could also be cuckcoo for coco puffs and not up to that level. That being said, I think we are into some “Cat on a Hot Tin Roof” kind of stuff here.

Pours an opaque murky orange-yellow color. Thin, weak white head dissipates almost immediately leaving just a small slick of foam on top of the beer.
Aroma is a pungent bright array of guava, peach, mango, citrus, vanilla, and some lactose. The vanilla and lactose provide some sweetness on the nose, but are also more subtle than the fruity notes.
Taste follows the nose with notes of guava, mango, peach, citrus, grapefruit, with some light bitter hoppiness on the finish. Hints of vanilla and lactose waft across the palate. As it warms the flavors kind of meld together providing a really nice marriage of all the flavors. It is pretty sweet overall, but that is to be expected given whats in here.
Feel is medium to heavy bodied. Kind of thick and sticky.
These milkshake IPAs are not my favorite style, but I have to admit this one was really well done and I thoroughly enjoyed it.

Big guava. The hops shine and this drinks like an IPA. Vanilla and lactose sweetness smooth things out. The beer finishes semi-sweet. Great Milkshake-style IPA.
