The second iteration in our Vanilla Dome Series. We brewed this batch with lactose, vanilla, blackberries and raspberries. Vanilla Dome (Blackberry & Raspberry) tastes and smells like raspberry galettes, blackberry sorbet, and mixed berry jam.

Poured into a 13 oz Foam tulip glass. Pours a beautiful pinkish purple, with a 2 finger off white head with some pink hues in it that leaves thin streaks of lace as it slowly settles. 4.75

Smell is blackberry, vanilla bean, tangerine, and just a nice subtle hit of grapefruit rind. 4.5

Taste follows berry black, blue, raspberry, vanilla, and a little tangerine and grapefruit excellent. 4.5

Mouthfeel is bigger than average, soft and creamy, a tad sticky but not dry, and goes down extremely easy at 8%. 4.5

Overall this may possibly be my favorite in this rather new style, well done and Definitive just keeps blowing me away.

I find this really interesting. The color is a hazy purplish. The nose is full of blackberry and raspberry. Taste follows the nose, with the vanilla and lactose keeping the taste from becoming tart or sour. This is difficult to pull off - most berry beers end up sour, but this one manages to stay soft. The only other brewer I’ve found to do this well is Mystic. This offering is just a bit more tart, probably due to the raspberry, but it is still quite soft and very enjoyable.

16oz can dated 11/8/18.

Pours murky purple-pink with a minimal head of white. Minimal retention or lacing. Vanilla with berries in the nose. Light raspberries with peppery undertones. On the fuller side of medium bodied with a creamy, soft mouthfeel. Bitter up front on the palate with some raspberry and vanilla. Finishes with a lingering bitterness and dirty berries.

Needs more fruit and less bitterness.

This is a different one in the series that's bursting with berry flavor. It pours a semi-creamy, pale magenta color with a one finger off white head at most. The aroma is rich with blackberry notes but enough vanilla and sweet lactose to balance it off well. The flavor is just fantastic with blackberry notes coming off the strongest. The base is a creamy lactose that is super smooth and very low in bitterness. The finish is a smooth berry flavor that never gets too tangy.

I am a skeptic of milkshake IPAs but I have to admit that this is just a very well done beer. It was recommended by friends to try as an introduction and it makes me curious to try more. Well worth a try - the blackberry flavor is masterfully blended.
