Vanilla Dome (Straight Vanilla) is the 3rd variant in our Milkshake IPA series. As the name suggests, this time there is no fruit, but we increased our vanilla-usage rate by over 100%. The vanilla character in this beer is outrageous. Vanilla Dome (Straight Vanilla) smells and tastes like freshly baked sugar cookies, orange creamsicles and vanilla ice cream.

16 oz can.
Pours a hazy pale gold color with a large sudsy off-white head. Great head retention. Leaves some splotchy lacing.
Strong vanilla bean aroma. Something like vanilla wafers, with a fair bit of orange and grapefruit rind. Maybe a hint of pineapple.
Flavor follows. Lots of vanilla. Like, a lot. Vanilla cream, vanilla cookies, vanilla whatever. A good bit of orange and grapefruit with some lighter tropical notes.
The feel is medium bodied with moderate carbonation. Somewhat soft, like my p...creamy. Goes down smooth.
Overall, this is a very good milkshake IPA, and definitely one of the better versions I've had. I'm still not completely sold on this style but I'm enjoying them little by little.

Initially pours as a quintessential milkshake IPA - translucent, beautiful head (that fades quickly). Smell is wonderful, especially if you like vanilla. Initial taste entry is sweet vanilla, followed by bitter. Mouthfeel very good - just enough bite and carbonation. Liked this one.

Canned 2020-01-31. Pours hazy golden with a pillow of white that retains and laces. Aroma is certainly vanilla and sweet as expected, with only trace amounts of citrus in the mix. Having never had and "milkshake" IPAs until now, the flavors on this are crazy to me. Almost a boozy vanilla (like the extract) hits initially and immediately smooths mid sip with tons of lactose sweet. Almost tough to get the citrus/melon flavors that are in the background somewhere. Finish again has a slight bitter/boozy vanilla. Strange but intriguing stuff.

A: Pours a hazy yellow-orange color with 2 fingers of head that slowly fades down to a nice cap
S: A good mix of vanilla, citrus, and tropical fruit up front. Some lactose sweetness mixes with the vanilla. Vanilla definitely stands out
T: Follows the nose. Starts off with a quick wave of vanilla before getting the citrus and tropical hop notes. Moderate bitterness. Vanilla and lactose sweetness holds up throughout the bitterness. Finishes with lingering vanilla and citrus
M: Medium bodied with moderate carbonation
O: A great milkshake IPA that definitely focuses on the vanilla, which helps to intensify the lactose. Highly recommended

L - time for a proper review. Had it on tap at the brewery and it was amazing (I think). Pours an off-orange mild haze with a wet white head that takes its time dissipating.
S - initial aroma is more fruity than vanilla. Orange honey jam. Freeze pops. Lemony vanilla extract peaks through at the very end.
T - oh yeah, there's the vanilla. Potent and punchy, but fleeting. I feel like this wasn't their intended flavor, but I'm getting Reese's Puffs cereal. Bathed in milk of course. Loads of orange blossom sweetness. Surprising lupulin bitterness in the back end.
F - a wee bit overcarbed. Invokes that airy, fluffy sensation which has the tendency to foam up a bit to make swallowing difficult. Fortunately, the lactose adds a gliding smoothness.
O - it's pretty much the leftover milk at the bottom of your sugary cereal bowl. I can dig it. Not much depth, but it's a fun beer and something I'll never say no to.

Sweet aroma almost like cotton candy, slight bubblegum, more refreshing taste like a toasted marshmallow with juicy citrusy tropical stone fruit elements, mango, pineapple, grapefruit, and some toasty caramelized malts, vanilla, and lactose creaminess.
