Dad grabbed a bottle from a friend in parts unknown. First impression is...meh. Not bad, but not really knocking my socks off. Not head to speak of, slightly spicy taste, watery mouthfeel. It isn't bad. You have a malt presence, not so much hops. some presence of standard dunkle flavors. But.... it is just kindda....yeah. Not bad deal for free, but nothing I am going to hunt down

A: Brown/caramel color, cloudy. Weak head- vigorous pour netted barely one finger of head, which dissipated quickly into a light wring around the edges. Lacing is non-existent.
S: very little aroma, I'm just not getting much there. a subtle hint of caramel is about all I'm picking up.
T: A bit of caramel. Toasted malts. A hint of banana comes out as it warms, but just a subtle amount.
M: surprisingly, given the lack of head, a carbonated fizz filled the mouth after the initial taste and pretty much consumed the flavor. Once the fizz eroded, the caramel/malt flavor lingers throughout.
D: not bad. This is not a style I seek out on a regular basis, but this beer is at least interesting enough to encourage me to explore other examples. This beer is smooth and has just enough flavor to hold my attention through the full pint.

Poured into a 16 oz glass.
A: Even on a very hard pour, little to no head at all. A mm cap on top, made of tiny little off white bubbles. Not impressive. Limited lacing as well. Color however was good, a deep dried oak leaf brown, with the classic hazy color of an weizen.
S: Not too much on the nose, I am thinking I drank it a bit too cold. I do get some funky wet towel smells, wheaty dark malt and some apple aromas as well.
T: Bready, yeasty with a bit of sour apple as well. Kind of funky and not really what I was expecting. A bitter after taste, I guess hops were in fact, added to this beer. Dominated by wheat malt however.
M: Average on just about everything. Carbonation, body etc.
D: Pretty drinkable. Didnt have the ABV on the bottle, but went down smooth.
A bit strange for my liking, but not an awful beer.
