pours bronze in color with a thin white head. not your average looking summer ale.
not the strongest aroma. notes of bready malts with a floral/piney hop character.
great balanced flavor. notes of bready malts again with a nice grassy hop character. hints of flowers, pine and lemon. pleasant hop bitterness. yet another easy drinking brew by just beer.
tastes similar to last years Flip Flop Summer Ale. thanks to some kind of legal mumbo-jumbo, the name had to be changed to simply "summer ale". the drawings of two pairs of flip flops still grace the label though. as far as comparisons go, i remember Flip Flop being a tad more malty and stronger on the hops (when it was fresh). i really love the fact they used Sorachi Ace hops for this one (i'm starting to get tired of all the Cascades they've been using). good beer. get it while you can!
