Light fizzy head that fades to almost non existent pretty quickly, super clear auburn amber color.

Nose light sweet candy, light brown sugar, reddish malts, caramel, light earthy floral hops with a bit of a spicy hop bitterness.

Taste is hoppy, bitter light earthy spicy hops, a bit astringent and salty. Then light sweet reddish and brown malts, caramel, brown sugar, light fruity flavors. Finishes bitter and astringent, salty earthy briny hops, light caramel, bit dry.

Mouth is med bodied to a bit lighter, lighter carb.

Overall not too bad, but not a great beer, too astringent and spicy briny salty hop tastes, fairly caramel malty as well, a fairly lackluster beer overall.

On-tap 12/4/2011 at Rose Alley Ale House in New Bedford, MA served in a US tumbler pint glass.

A: The beer is a deep golden brown color with a short off-white head that fades quickly and leaves a thick on the glass.

S: The aroma is faint but contains citrus, caramelized malts and some hops.

T: The taste starts out sweet with flavors of citrus and caramel. Then a decent hops presence comes in. The malt character is hearty but not too heavy and brings a good balance. The after-taste is slightly sweet.

M: Crisp and smooth, medium body, medium carbonation, finish is slightly sticky.

D: Tasty, goes down very easily, not too filling, mild kick, good representation of style, this is a nice beer to pound down for a while and as the name implies…it’s not pumpkin.
