Received as an extra in trade from paulthebeerguru. Poured from a 12oz. bottle into Sam Adams perfect pint glass. Beer was gold straw in color with a two finger, rocky, white head. Heavy carbonation and moderate lacing around the glass.

Aroma was crisp and fruity. Nice and clean.

Taste was crisp and pleasant. Notes of biscuit, lightly bitter hops and light fruits such as apple and pear.

Very crisp, clean and refreshing. This would make for a decent session beer at a party or cookout. Thanks again to paulthebeerguru for the opportunity to try this one!

This was a pretty yellow/gold color with a fairly thick head and some nice lacing. It had a fresh, outdoors, grainy odor to it. The taste was very nondescript, just some mild hoppiness came through. Mildly carbonated, and OK to drink. I wouldn't want to spend the night with this beer.

Presentation: 12oz brown twist-off bottle. Unclear bottling number, no freshness date.

Appearance: A relatively clear golden beer, with a slight haze. Carbonation is active, forming a nice finger thick white head.

Smell: Floral, fruity with light grain notes. Very aromatic.

Taste: Lovely full-malt profile, sweet and fruity. Mouthfeel is smooth and mellow, with a rich medium body. Faint sulfur and earthy notes. Hops are tea-like, very floral, and balance the brew without overpowering -- gentle lemon flavour that peaks with a near twang. Bready/buscuit flavours towards the end. Finishes clean, with a dry palate.

Notes: A really nice traditional lager with an American twist. Much more body and depth of flavour compared to the mega-brewery versions. A very agreeable beer.

Great clarity with a medium sized bubbly head that drops a few rings of lace down the glass. Colour is spot on and is as gold as you can get. Big grainy aroma, clean to the nose with a mild floral hop. Big on crispness, lots of pale grainy flavour going around. Straight up hop bitterness that goes in with sharpness and leaves with floral undertones. The malt flavour stick more to the graininess yet there is a touch of dry biscuity and grassy husk especially in the finish.

12 ouncer sampled, pours light clear honey light amber, moderate white head, showing limited retention and no lacing. Slight citrus nose picked up. This is a moderatly crisp and medium bodied German style lager.Dry finish. Not my favorite or the most exciting of styles, but this one is clean and refreshing, so for what its worth this is a decent take on a dull (IMHO) style. Fine summer quaffer.

My favorite Buzzard's so far. Clean crisp lager, full bright gold with terrific head after a vigorous pour. Subdued flowery odor, smooth malts balanced perfectly by mild hops. A perfect choice for after working on the car in the hot sun for an hour or so. Reminiscent of Czech pilsners, particularly Budvar with the soft cushiony mouthfeel, so soft and exquisite. A faint metallic twinge in the finish gives this beer a little hardness, perhaps in keeping with the Dortmunder style. If you've got a friend who won't drink anything other than Bud/Miller/Coors, one of these will knock him out.

Bright gold look, head starts out well -- fine-bubbled and 1/4 of an inch in height. Thin horizontal bands of lace. Minimal aroma, traces of a treacle maltiness. Flavor has a number of peanut brittle characteristics, buttery with some papery qualities. Musky catch to the throat close to the swallow. Decent beer, the brew is marked by a pretty good malt and practically no hop characters what so ever. Aftertaste is a little on the cellulose side, more hay up front would have been better. But, a serviceable brew to me, I'd drink it again. Thanks to Liza P. and her dad for getting it, and Ken K. for bringing it back.

A really wonderful head, this may be a full three finger. This lager is darker than most,a coppery color. However, after the apperance, this beer is a little disapointing. The smell and taste are no different than any big macrobrewary. This does go down easy, but after two,I have to say I would discourage anyone from this lager.

Nothing exotic here. Just a good lager with a good taste. Was lucky enough to get it on tap. Poured a nice golden yellow. Good head. Nice mix of hops and malts. Nothing unusual, which made it unusual in my eye's. Good "cape" beer, I can see the dunes and ocean if I close my eyes while drinking it.

Olde Buzzard lager: (served in a bottle from a tub of ice, had to let it warm up) light amber in color, with a light malt/flower aroma. Sweet malt taste initially, followed up by pronounced hops, that was nicely balanced. Had a clean dry finish. Very nice, and world’s better than macros.

Great session brew when you're not looking for something too complex. My beer of choice when I'm at Humarock.

Renamed Gold Medal Lager....
A) Golden in color with light orange hues. Visible upward CO2. Pours with a two finger head then settles to a creamy thin head. Lacing follows suit.
S) Grainy. Subtle citrus notes. Orange. Lemon. Yeast.
T) Malty nose - caramel. Butter. Mellow hop bite in the finish. Lingering hop zing in the aftertaste.
M) Creamy and lightly crisp. Fizzy. Light bodied. Mild gritty-ness.
D) On a hot summer day? Yup. Otherwise... meh.

The pour a clear dark gold color, prodigious foamy white head and tonnes of lace. The nose is dominated by the malts, clean and fresh. Front is slightly malt sweet, the top skimpy, sparsely hopped, adequate carbonation, with a droughty aftertaste. In my humble opinion, a prototypical Lager/Pils. The beer is just to one dimensional for me, thus I can't rate it very high on my master list of beers.

appearance – Golden color with carbonation. Nice white head, and left some lace too.

smell – Sweet and some hop smell to it.

taste – Has a sweet taste to it and then a slight hop taste at the end, but not too much.

mouthfeel – Medium body and carbonated.

drinkability – Ahhh, didn't do much for me. Was an ok beer, nothing that made me go wow.

Yet another enjoyable lager. It was a slightly darker golden color and a nice head. The smell was nice and hoppy. Very pleasent to the nose. The taste was crisp, and almost dry. The hops show up after it leaves the palet making for a very nice finish.

Poured from a 12oz. bottle into a US tumbler pint glass.

A: The beer is a light gold color with a thin white head that fades slowly and leaves a thin lace on the glass.

S: The aroma is very straight-forward and contains mostly light malts, hops and a little bit of fruit.

T: The taste is very well-balanced with flavors of bready malts, hops bitterness and fruity sweetness. It’s simple but very effective. The after-taste is slightly bready, slightly sweet and slightly hoppy, retaining the balance all the way through.

M: Smooth and very crisp, light-to-medium body, medium carbonation, dry and very clean finish.

D: Tasty, goes down very easily, not very filling, good representation of style, this is a quality easy-drinking lighter beer to stick with for a whole evening.

12 oz brown bottle poured into a pint glass. The back label states – “Chart on front not meant for navigational purposes.” Seeing the label, I hope this is a joke, as it got a chuckle out of me.

Appearance – bubbly and bright gold with a spongy white head, which leaves a thick layer of lace.

Smell – mildly sweet with a slight hop skunkness.

Taste – fairly neutral, the sweetness is subdued and the hops have a gentle presence in the finish.

Mouthfeel – well carbonated, yet smooth, and tingles the backs of the throat just a bit.

Drinkability – It would get a five, but this seems to be a fragile beer. I could drink this anytime of the year, especially on a hot and humid summer day

12ozer bottle bought as part of the seasonal 12-pack sampler, from Jeans Wine and Spirits, Coventry, CT. Bottling #4 246.

Poured into an imperial pint glass, formed a 3/4" off-white head above the golden amber brew. Head and lacing are both good for the style. Aroma is dominated by sweet pale malts, leaving room for much else to shine. Taste is as well all about sweet pale malts, with the slightest citrus hops flavor. Mouthfeel and drinkabilty are both good, with a slight aftertaste knocking the former down a peg. Good representative of the style.

golden with a white head that doesn't hang around long. light floral aroma, a little hopiness. some sweet maltinessand light hop bitterness in the taste, nothing really special. medium body with good carbonation. overall pretty light and enjoyable, but it's not very interesting, maybe i'm just not a lager person.

Light golden color with a nice off-white head and decent carbonation. Nice grainy malt aroma and flavor. Light-medium bodied with a grainy malty dry finish.

A nice micro lager with plenty of flavor and worth having around.

12oz bottle acquired in trade.

Poured a medium and clear golden color with an averaged sized white head. Aromas of grass, citrus, and I get some spiciness. Tastes of citrus and grass. Like the tastes, the body was a litte on the weak and watery side. Lively body as well.

Great tastng beer, sad to see them retire it. My bottle was named Gold Medal Lager. Someone gave me this as an extra in a trade, don't remember who, so if you read this please let me know so I can credit you accordingly.

A - Clear golden color, slight head, minimal lacing. Pretty normal looking beer, not bad, not good.

S - Nice grainy backbone with some mild malts and grassy finish. Smells clean, light, and a touch sweet.

T - Very very good tasting. Light and grassy with a slight bitter taste that balances out some sweetness nicely. Touch of malts make this a simple, yet somehow complexly blended beer. On of the better ones of this type i've ever had.

M - Clean, carbonated, light, refreshing.

D - Easy to get down, really like this beer, wish I could get more.

I almost didn't buy this since I am not big on lagers...(thank you ab for the complex) but I am glad I did. This is one of the best lagers I've had. This tastes more like a Kolsch, and if it wasnt for the crispness of the ending I would think it was.
Very fruity/floral aroma.
Head retention was lacking even on a very hard pour.
Light maltiness with a spicy, citrous hoppiness that quickly fades into a light cracker flavour.

I am sampling this brew in a pint glass after hours in the fridge. The beer pours a clear gold with a smal bleached white head that fades to a thin surface layer rather quickly. The aroma is mild with light flroal hops and a sweet malt presence of caramel. Unfortunately I also detect a slight skunk scent to the beer. I will press on.
First sip reveals an average bodied brew with small prickly carbonation. There is a sweet caramel malt flavor up front that mixes with a mild piney hop finish. I also get a slight sweet candy presence in this beer. This is a smooth and easy drinking beer. A good example of the style I think.
