Bomber poured into a nonic.
Appearance: Pours a slightly hazy copper/brown with a big eggshell head.
Aroma: Caramel, hops, sweet malt.
Taste: This strikes me much more as an ESB than a malty take on a brown ale. It's okay, but kind of a one-note affair. It's bitter with some malt backing.
Mouthfeel: Medium depth.
Overall: Wanted to love this but it's pretty average. Okay for ESB fans. Seemed kind of comparable to Goose Island's Honker to me.

Poured from a 22oz bottle into a mug glass.
A: The beer is a coppery brown color, with a large dense off-white head that fades slowly and leaves a thick lace on the glass.
S: The aroma contains caramelized malts, some smokiness, some hops and some fruit.
T: The taste starts out smoky and bready with a hearty malt character up front. Then a decent hops presence comes in. There is some mild caramel and fruit sweetness that creates a good balance. The after-taste is slightly smoky and slightly sweet.
M: Crisp and smooth, medium body, medium carbonation, finish is slightly sticky.
O: Tasty, goes down easily, not too filling, decent kick, not sure how to gauge the representation of style since I know it’s not a stout and I can’t even tell if it’s a lager or an ale, regardless it is still a good beer to drink for a while if you want a not-so-dark beer with a small amount of smokiness to it.

This ain't no stout, so I'm bemused. It's certainly brown in color and pours with a nice full head from the bottle. The brewery said it smells of toffee and it does! Like toffee cookies with loads of caramel. I pick up some sort of fruit from the hops but they are subdued and austere. Probably right for all that lovely malt aroma. Nice and clean with a touch of sweetness but really easy to drink. Could be a favorite this fall.

22oz. bottle served in a tulip. Pours a brown color with ruby highlights when backlit. Head is one inch, khaki-colored and creamy. Head eventually dissipates into a consistent soapy skim that coalesces around the shoulders. Nose expresses a mild cocoa and roasted character with perhaps a slight toffee quality towards the back. Taste consistent with nose; however, it all comes off a bit washed out and watery. There's also an earthy/ashy character to the flavor profile. Mouthfeel is light-medium in consistency with a somewhat gassy carbonation. Overall, a bit dull and lacking in flavor - not a beer I'd seek out again.
