Introducing Dense Brume, the next release in our Brume series. The Brume series IPAs share one thing: a grain bill comprised of pale 2-row barley, wheat, oats & dextrin malt. The large amount of wheat & oats provide a soft body that coats your taste buds with hop saturation. Fermented with our house ale yeast and very aggressively hopped with Citra, Mosaic & Lemondrop, Dense Brume is exploding with notes of ripe mango, passion fruit and a myriad of fresh pressed citrus juice. We hope you enjoy this beer as much as we do.

16oz can from Tavour. Hazy golden pour with a long lasting creamy white head. Aroma is a fruity blend of citrus and tropical, overripe fruit, mango. Taste leans mostly on the tropical fruits, mango, melon, guava, ending with a subtle dryness.

16oz can purchased from the fridge as a single for $6.28 plus tax. I'm not sure when this was canned so I will have to estimate based on Instagram posts. It looks like this was released on April 23, so it's one day shy of 10 weeks old.

Look: Moderately hazy yellowish gold hue. There's still some clarity on the bottom of the snifter glass. There was a very frothy and rocky white head that died down. A half-finger of fluffy pillow-top head remains and is being maintained by the active carbonation. Nice lacing also.

Smell: Very nice aromas of fresh citrus zest and juice including grapefruit, lemon, tangerine, and lime. Subtle floral notes? Nice lemon oil note coming through. Notes of not so ripe mango and pineapple coming through. I also get some papaya and a bit of a diesel/petrol type note, which is quite interesting. There's also a restrained dankness and a pronounced juiciness/acidity coming through. Lots of green bell pepper coming through on the finish after swirling the glass.

Taste: Really tasty. This is a really nice expression of juiciness and sweetness that is balanced by bitterness and dryness. It's highly drinkable and very refreshing. The lemondrop hop is a nice addition to the ubiquitous Citra and mosaic hop bill. It definitely gives it some lemon hard candy flavor vibes, especially on the finish. This beer is all about the hops; the malt bill is basically just a vessel for smooth texture and mouthfeel. Eventually, after the hop bitterness fades, I'm left with subtle honey and crackery malt notes. Very nice.

Feel: The mouthfeel is very soft and fluffy. It is smooth and there is no chalkiness. It's on the lighter side of medium bodied.

Overall: I would say that this is one of the better New England-Style IPAs that I have had lately. It's interesting that this is characterized as an American IPA; I would consider this to be more representative of a NEIPA. Whichever way you classify it, it's a very good IPA. It's only my third Elder Pine beer, but it's clear to me that Elder Pine is totally killing it. I will pick up any beer of theirs that I am lucky enough to get distributed to PA. I'm looking forward to a few more varieties that I have in my stash.

Hazy IPA

The OG EP Hazy returns! Dense Brume showcases a few of our favorite hops: Citra, Mosaic and Lemondrop. Saturated impressions of passion fruit, mango, pineapple & citrus zest lead the way with a soft bitterness & creamy body from tons of wheat & oats.

Dense Brume has become an annual release in the spring to showcase some of our freshest hand-selected hops grown in the Pacific Northwest. It's been a year since we last released Dense Brume and we're super excited to share this fresh batch with you!

16 ounce can poured into a Willi Becher.
PKG 4/22/24

L: Light yellow and translucent hazy, huge white meringue-like head, clumpy wheaty foam is very persistent and leaves sticky lace.
S: Hoppy stone fruit citrus and pine.
T: Hop forward and moderately bitter, light stone fruit and citrus flavors, hints at sweetness to open, drys on the back, citrus zest becoming more pronounced toward the finish,
F: Light medium body, medium carbonation, has a minor crisp bite peaking in the middle, it becomes mostly soft after ten or so minutes.
O: Pretty good AIPA, but a little lighter in flavor than I expected for 7%.

Appearance: Pours a somewhat cloudy goldenstraw with a two finger head; excellent retention with shards and webs of lacing

Smell: Juicy aromatics bursting with pineapple, mango and tangerine

Taste: Juicy flavors forward with the pineapple and mango; the tangerine emerges, adding a low to moderate bitterness that balances the juicy flavors in the finish

Mouthfeel: Medium body and somewhat creamy with moderate carbonation

Overall: Elder Pine made some tweaks to this release to emphasize the juicy aspect; really enjoyable

Everything Is as advertised on the 16oz can. Very rich IPA, but the oats really smooth / round out the mouthfeel. Hard pine flavor, with some tropical fruit density in the background. A winner!
