I have tried one other beer from Elder Pine that beer was fantastic. I am excited to try another beer from there. The beer is about 44 degrees and served in a pint glass. The pour produced a massive medium tan two-fingered head with excellent retention. As the beer slowly dissipated, lacing left behind on the glass. The color is SRM 26, dark brown with garnet highlights. The clarity of the beer is clear. The appearance of the beer is excellent for this style.
Initial aromas in the beer are roasted malt, oak, and fire. Next, I detect a hint of Maillard, bread, dark chocolate, a touch of floral esters, and coffee. Lastly, I smell caramel and toffee.
The flavors are roasted malts, bread, chocolate, spicy floral esters, oak, resin, Maillard, bread, coffee, toffee, firs, smoke, and earthiness.
The mouthfeel of the beer is dry and carbonated.
The body of the beer is medium, medium-plus carbonation, and fuller finish.
The beer is balanced and flavorful. I could drink several of these beers on an Autumn night.

L: Red tea-brown with a fat finger of khaki head leaving no lace.
S: Confectionary sugar, a quad-like profile and some mild tannins like sweet tea.
T: Follows the nose with a touch of coconut.
F: Thin but really nice mouthfeel overall.
O: Really enjoyed this easy drinker.

Poured from can. "Lager aged in an oak foeder for 6 months." Bourbon recirculated to rehydrate the wood. Very subtle bourbon taste on otherwise well-balanced dark lager-expected just a little more bourbon. Will taste again at slightly higher temp.
