Based on a London Porter recipe from the 1800’s. Incredibly smooth with a very restrained roastiness when compared to modern Porters. All roasted character & dark color come from brown & crystal/caramel malt rather than roasted barley or black/chocolate malt. 28 IBUs

On draught at the brewery.
A dark pour with beautiful rings of lacing.
Dark roasted and caramelized malt dominate the flavor profile. The mild semisweet roasted flavors, subtle bittersweet chocolate and dark roasted coffee notes fade to dry on the finish with a pleasant hops bitterness profile and tang on the finish. Medium bodied mouthfeel.
A very tasty old school English Porter!

An incredibly simple, yet wonderfully drinkable take on one of my favorite styles. So many porters are heavy, thick, cloying and over-done. This was everything I've been looking for in a porter: Beautiful black, with a thick, soft tan head in the glass. Subtle smoke in the nose, with a touch of dark toast and rich chocolate smoke in the taste, without any residual sweetness. The hint of bittering hops at the end is perfect. But the coup de grace is the lighter body and subtle carbonation that renders the whole thing oh so drinkable. I didn't give it a perfect rating, per se; but it's the closest thing to MY perfect porter that I've had to-date. And it says it's a limited edition. So I guess I'd better go get more.
