16oz can purchased from the fridge as a single for $6.73 plus tax. I'm not sure when this was canned so I will have to estimate based on Instagram posts. It looks like this was released on February 29, so it's just over four months old.
Look: It has a moderately hazy yellowish hue. Initially, it had a very frothy, rocky white head that dissipated to a thin layer. It looks like it is nicely carbonated. There was a fair amount of hop protein sediment and the beer definitely became hazier with a yellowish/light orange glow after pouring the bottom of the can.
Smell: This beer has a lovely nose. Up front, it's very fruity and drank, green as well. Notes of lime zest, lemon zest, gooseberry, white grapes, and grapefruit alongside green grass and dankity dankness. Subtle crackery malt notes up front also, along with some more spicy wheat notes. Huge green bell pepper note on the finish after swirling.
Taste: Ah, this is really thirst-quenching. Suuuuper drinkable and very smooth. Up front, it's very easy-going with flavors that very much mirror the nose (grapefruit, lemon, lime, gooseberry, passionfruit, and white grapes). The finish has a mild to moderate bitterness that has a pleasant long-lingering effect. I also really like that this finishes fairly dry, and it is making me want to dive right back in for more. The bitterness has a nice earthy flavor, and there's a lot of lime rind and grapefruit rind and pith flavor present. A bit more sweetness and juiciness came through after pouring the rest of the can and I think that I preferred the "less-hazy" majority of the can. Nonetheless, it's nice to taste both "versions" of this beer and appreciate the less hazy and more hazy expressions of it.
Feel: It has a nice medium body with a somewhat oily mouthfeel. At the same time, it has a nice crispness and dryness that make it very refreshing and drinkable.
Overall: This is my second Elder Pine beer (Death Below, another Riwaka-hopped beer was the first). I don't know if other people do this, but it's my way: I don't "roll" my hazy beer cans and if I am opening them with a bit of age (more than just a few weeks) then there is some natural settling and filtration that occurs within the can. It's interesting to almost experience two different versions of the beer - the more West Coast-style, less hazy version and the more New England-style, hazier version. I am digging this brewery and looking forward to trying some of their other offerings.

Southern Hemisphere Haze is our rotating hop series constructed to showcase the brightest, most pungent hops the southern hemisphere has to offer.
This third iteration is very heavily hopped & dry hopped with New Zealand Riwaka & Nelson Sauvin at equal parts for prominent impressions of lemon hard candy, tropical gummy bears, sauvignon blanc & passion fruit. Tons of malted & flaked wheat provide a creamy soft body that is the perfect backbone for the pungent tropical hops.
