Taster pour at brewery:
I think how you enjoy/rate this beer will depend on whether you want barrel or smoke. It’s already imperialized, so maybe barrel is right, but I want smoke in my Rauch, it it was just got too pushed out for me in this beer.
Dark rust color with a beige ring, the nose is heavy on molasses, bourbon, brown sugar and light on smoke - though I do note it if I look for it. A campfire from across the gorge is how it presents. Taste is medium sweet with a little tang and a washed out campfire finish. Moderately successful, but drinks more as a moderately decent quad with a little smoked malt - which isn’t really a bad thing.
