Sweet caramel and molasses, slightly burnt brown sugar, overripe plums, dates and raisins, and a vanilla-bourbon barrel nose on this one! Taste follows very closely with a slightly dry, semi-sweet chocolate, and a balanced bourbon barrel boozy finish. This has more of a full and soft mouthfeel instead of thick and viscous like I like my Barrel-aged Lyfe. Also, the dry finish takes away from enjoying this all the way through to the backend of the swallow. This is really good, but needs to be sweeter upfront and mid-palate to really accentuate and bring home those English barleywine notes IMO.
