16oz can purchased from the fridge as a single for $6.28 plus tax. No canned on date, but based on Instagram it looks like it was released on July 2, which would make this beer exactly 5 months old.
Look: Pours out a very pale yellow color and just slightly hazy initially. Champagne-like thick white, rocky head that ultimately dissipated to a thin, frothy layer. Looks great. After pouring the rest of the can, this gained a good amount of haze and some sediment.
Smell: Nice aromas of dankness, lime zest, grapefruit rind, white grape skins, and lemon oil. Peppery aromas on the finish. Green bell pepper notes on the finish after swirling the glass.
Taste: This is really delicious - very refreshing, crisp, and balanced. Even after being 5 months old, it tastes fresh. The flavors follow the nose - up front, it's bright and tropical with notes of nectarine and white grape along with aromatic citrus. A bit of juicy acidity up front also. Very tasty. The finish is moderately bitter and dry with pepperiness and lots of grapefruit and lime pith.
Feel: It's hovering around medium body. Body becomes more pillowy after pouring the rest of the can and the haziness increases. Effervescent carbonation.
Overall: I'm a big fan of New Zealand hops, so this beer definitely does me proper. I usually prefer West Coast IPAs, but this one is hitting all the right notes for me. It packs in a lot of flavor for a 6.8% Hazy IPA. Elder Pine for the win, once again! One of my favorite breweries.
