From a pint can. A dark pour, and a thin head, no lacing.
The dark roasted malt flavor is mellowed with age, melds well with the oak, subtle fruity esters and vanilla flavors. Plum, raisins, and dried fruit notes commingle well with the bourbon and rye. Hops bitterness level is fairly high, but mild in flavor. Very warming on the finish.
A well crafted and complex beer with lots of character.

The platonic ideal of a jet black European lager, with aroma of bourbon and a malty finish. The high ABV will kick your ass in a good way.

Pitch black. Big boozy malty aroma and flavor! Complex and fairly rich for a Dark Lager. Medium to full bodied with a warm boozy finish.

Deep cola colored. Big whiskey wood and roast aroma. Lot going on here. Pluminess emerges as beer warms. Quite dry for such a big beer. The aggressive whiskey and wood character may be masking some of the more subtle flavors. Interesting lager feel, but I think I prefer the more traditional mouthcoating oomph of an ale at this strength.
