Our imperial oatmeal stout with decadent peanut butter and vanilla. This new batch is thicker, richer, and a higher abv!

Cool looking can. Bought a 4 pack at Total Wine in Dallas. This one is 8% abv. Light peanut butter smell. Smooth peanut butter flavor. I'm a big fan of peanut butter stouts and oatmeal stouts so this is right up my alley. A very nice beer. The abv is well hidden, I would have guessed 6% abv. A very drinkable beer that I'm happy to have a 4 pack of

The flavor is nice mellow peanut with a nice creaminess from the oat and vanilla. However, a major contention for me is calling this a stout. No. It’s a brown ale, no question. It’s on the thin side, and if it literally isn’t a hazy peanut butter brown.

Poured into a Fremont small snifter. Pours a very dark mahogany brown, appearing nearly opaque in the glass with a one finger dark khaki head that dissipates to a thick cap with nice lacing. Aroma of dark toasted malt, peanut butter, cocoa and vanilla. Flavor is dark toasted malt with light char, peanut butter, mild cocoa and vanilla. Medium bodied with light to moderate oaty creaminess. A solid peanut butter stout with a somewhat low complexity flavor. The malt is substantial enough for the peanut butter, but feels a bit thin. Some light vanilla and cocoa; somewhat dry finish. Apparently this has usually been a 13% stout, and although I'm not sure it needs to be that powerful, I think a bit more than 8 could have added to the flavor depth here. Expected pleasant mouth feel for an oatmeal stout.
