Baffling how smooth this beer is - at 13.3%, it's tremendously smooth, thick, and full of rich chocolate and coconut. It does take a little time for the beer to open up - at room temp, it's not quite a coconut bomb, but it's getting there. This must have been a hell of a long boil - very nice body, verging on too sweet and rich.
A bit aggressively carbonated for me (I always prefer a nearly-flat stout - just drinks easier and doesn't fill me up to the same degree).
Still, outstanding for what it is - very well done.

Received from @r0rschach in a BIF box. No date on can. Poured into a snifter glass. It pours inky black with some cola hues on the edges. The foamy, light mocha head dissipated almost immediately. On the nose there is roasted malt, shaved coconut, caramel, freshly-brewed black coffee, and a whiff of char. The taste opens with coconut and fudge followed by cola, nuts, and fairly bitter burnt coffee. It really emulates chocolate cake. At the finish of the sip there is considerable bitterness balanced by a hint of salt. The flavors balance well and the taste is unique. For an Imperial Stout it has surprising effervescence. At first, I thought the feel was rather thin but as the glass warmed it seemed creamier. The 13.3% ABV is warming but not overpowering. Overall, Coconut Migration is a pleasing sipper with a complex taste profile. It's a shame there isn't better head retention.

Pouring this from a 16 oz. can into a Willi Becher, it delivers a very dark brown pour and forms a pinky width of caramel colored crown. Looks would get higher marks if the crown retention was better. 4
The nose brings a borage of sweetness. Layers of fresh cut coconut, toasted caramel, fudge like chocolate and even slight vanilla cake batter all tangle together. 4.25
The taste delivers on all aspects previously mentioned. There is a slightly roasty dark malt aspect as well. It is thick with sweetness, but that’s to be expected from something like this. I would say a very slight, salty pecan presence shows but you would never guess it if not told. I do like the balance and how the layers are working together, none being too dominant over the other. 4.25
It doesn’t have the thickest body ever, but I wouldn’t say by any means it leaves you wanting more. The body works really well and gives a nice tickling finish. The ABV is nonexistent throughout, and I honestly didn’t feel it until I stood up. Hah.
4.25
Overall, as my first stout from Turning Point, it doesn’t disappoint. I would wish for not pecan presence, but that might just be me. Other than that, I have no complaints. 4.25
