My first electrolyte infused sports beer ( I am a bit scared..)
Poured from a can into a pint glass
Appearance – The beer pours a florescent blue color with a one finger head of fizzy blue tinted foam. The head fades quite fast leaving a light level of foamy lace on the sides of the glass.
Smell – The aroma is of an artificial blue raspberry smell mixed with some light aromas of salt. Overall, it does smell like a sports drink.
Taste – The taste is what one may expect from the look and the smell. It begins with a very sweet sports drink like flavor, being a mix of blue raspberry and blackberry. There is a tiny bit of saltiness and a touch of grain, but these are overall very light. The sweet persists, with a little bit of sour raspberry, blueberry and lemon joining in at the end, leaving one with a slightly sour sports drink like flavor to linger on the tongue.
Mouthfeel – The body is actually thicker and chewier for a brew that is trying to be a sports drink, with a carbonation level that is high. For the style the high carbonation makes it more refreshing, but the slightly heavier body takes away a bit from the easy sipping nature.
Overall – Nothing I would do again. Too sweet. It was fun to try once, but for me this is not a go to.
