473 mL can picked up at the LCBO while traveling; coded 60-19134, listed at 4.7% and served barely chilled.
Pours a clear copper-amber colour, generating half a finger of frothy, bubbly off-white head that hardly lasts for a minute. At least it leaves behind a tight, creamy collar and a thin band of lace; looks more like an amber ale (or even an IPA) than a pilsener. It smells mostly of doughy, grainy malts, with faint hints of caramelized sweetness; there may be a touch of grassy hops in there, too.
Not exactly a traditional Czech pils, but it's along the same sort of lines - and honestly it's rather tasty, so I'm not inclined to bitch about it any further. It tastes of grainy, doughy malts and biscuity, lightly caramelized sweetness at the forefront, leading into a tail end of grassy hay, a touch of earthiness and a leafy, spicy hop bitterness. Medium-light in body, with relatively mild carbonation levels that gently tickle the tongue; feels quite smooth and a little slick on the palate, with ridiculously high drinkability.
Final Grade: 3.78, a solid B+. Saulter Street's Riverside Pilsner is a finely constructed interpretation of one of my favourite styles of lager. Don't let the looks fool you - this is a Euro-style lager first and foremost, and not nearly as malty-sweet as I was anticipating. Now, I don't know if I'd take this over Czechvar or PU, but it's a pleasant diversion that is worth a try if you have any interest in Euro lagers and/or pilseners in general. I've never seen anything from this brewery around here, but I'd pick it up again if it were an option, and would love to try it on tap.

Clear copper with a short head and Just a little lace. Some sort of hybrid pioneer I guess. A little maltier than a straight up pils, not quite as hoppy. Thin bodied and a touch metallic.

Can ...poured a clear amber with virtually no head...aroma was grainy, toasty, light sweetness, grassy hops...low cabonation, medium-light body, toasty-bitter character .... flavor was well balanced with pungent toasted mats in front balanced by pleasant bitterness...clean bitter finish..very nice brew

473 ml can served cold into a pint glass. Review from notes and listed as Riverside Copper Pilsner.
Appearance - A bright copper colored beer with a finger plus of quickly receding bright white head. Good clarity and plentiful visible carbonation.
Smell - Plenty of straw grain in the nose, reasonably light with some grassiness mixed in.
Taste - straw grain, with some mild roasted malt, nothing unusual here, just well executed.
Mouthfeel - Medium-light bodied, crisp carbonation and easy drinking finish.
Overall - A solid above average pilsner, notable for its copper color.

This is an interesting beer. Mine was Riverside Copper Pilsner, which seems to be the current name for it. Appropriate, given the lovely copper colour of the pour, with a decent white head. The taste is a combination of a pleasant malt and slightly harsh bitterness, overall quite pleasing. I found the bitterness note remained on the pallet after drinking, dropping my score for feel and overall.

Had the Pilsner the other day. Damn was it ever tasty! Tastes exactly like a Pilsner should. Slight hop presence (but not forward) and an excellent grainy straw cereal quality. The kind of beer that would taste great chugging after a long jog.
For the longest time Steamwhistle was my favourite Toronto beer, but I feel like they changed their recipe in recent years....I've been constantly chasing that dragon....that perfectly balanced straw, cereal goodness. This Pilsner is close....and a good price at $2.90 a can!
