At my lady Pamela's house; canned and chilled, 473mL in a weizen glass. From The Beer Store in nearby Amherstburg. Packaged May 2/25. My fourth beer from the Kingsville, Ontario brewery, and third for 2025. Particularly endorsed by Gracie the cat...

From a can. An unusual find in Central Texas. Cloudy orange color with white foamy head. Smells of banana and cloves. Medium body with good carbonation. Toasted grain with banana and clove flavors. Everything you'd expect in a Hefeweizen.

473 mL can from The Beer Store; dated Mar 29 2019 and served barely chilled.

Pours a foggy golden colour, sporting an inch-high crown of fluffy, foamy white head that steadily dissipates over the course of the next five minutes or so. A creamy cap and wide, frothy collar are the eventual remnants, alongside a modest smattering of lace; it's an attractive beer. It smells of overripe banana and freshly baked banana bread, with hints of sweet apple, wheat, bubblegum and clove. No complaints so far.

A solid hefeweizen that keeps things simple, resulting in a very approachable, dare I say crushable, wheat beer. Bready malts and wheaty sweetness are a constant background presence throughout the sip, joined first by ripe banana, and then by suggestions of apples and stone fruit. There's a touch of clove spiciness, too towards the finish; still, it's the banana and wheat that stick around longest, lingering briefly into a slightly yeasty aftertaste that fades quickly. Moderate carbonation levels that provide a gentle bite, especially towards the beginning of the glass, but the overall mouthfeel trends smoother and softer as you continue. Easy to toss back, and a pleasure to do so.

Final Grade: 3.93, a B+. Kingsville Hefeweizen is a fine German-style weissbier that really hits the spot on a cool summer's night. If I put this brew in a line-up with some imported hefes and tried them blindfolded, I bet this one would blend in just fine. Certainly worth a try if you can find it, and one of the better domestic (and local!) interpretations of this style that I have sampled within recent memory.

Body is a deep gold with copper tones, hazy. Highly active carbonation cuts away the head within 30 seconds to next to nothing.
Smells like an orchard - musty funk, ripe apples - and caramelized banana. Faintly of floral spice, like coriander.
Big, ripe, pulp fruit flavours match the aroma, quite sweet with a lightly syrupy feel. Apple cider and pear mostly, though again get a sense of banana too. As expected from the look, it's low on carbonation, which amplifies a sweeter finish that verges on cloying.

While some aspects of the flavour profile are on point, it's lacking balancing acidity or tart notes, as well as carbonation. Hard to drink when it's this sugary and flat.

16 ounce can into weizen glass, canned on 4/20/2018. Pours slightly hazy medium golden yellow color with a 2 finger fairly dense and fluffy off white head with fantastic retention, that reduces to a nice cap that lasts. Thick foamy lacing clings on the glass, with a good amount of streaming carbonation retaining the cap. Fantastic appearance. Aromas of big banana, bubblegum, clove, peppercorn, lemon, peach, pear, red apple, wheat, cracker, white bread dough, herbal, floral, grass, and yeast earthiness. Very nice aromas with good balance and complexity of fruity/spicy yeast, pale/wheat malts, and light earthy hop notes; with great strength. Taste of big banana, bubblegum, clove, peppercorn, lemon, peach, pear, red apple, wheat, cracker, white bread dough, herbal, floral, grass, and yeast earthiness. Mild herbal, floral, grassy bitterness; peppery yeast spiciness; and wheat tang/tartness on the finish. Lingering notes of banana, bubblegum, clove, peppercorn, lemon, peach, pear, red apple, wheat, cracker, white bread dough, herbal, floral, grass, and yeast earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Great complexity, robustness, and balance of fruity/spicy yeast, pale/wheat malts, and light earthy hop flavors; with a solid malt/bitter/spiciness balance, and no cloying flavors after the finish. Lightly increasing dryness from lingering bitter/spiciness and carbonation. High carbonation and light-medium body, with a very smooth, creamy/bready/grainy, fairly crisp, and slightly sticky mouthfeel that is nice. Zero warming alcohol as expected of 5%. Overall this is a delicious hefeweizen. All around nice complexity, robustness, and balance of fruity/spicy yeast, pale/wheat malts, and light earthy hop flavors; very smooth, refreshing, and fairly crisp to drink with the minimally bitter/spicy finish. Very flavorful and not watery for the ABV. Perfectly balanced classic German yeast complexity and pale/wheat malts; with mild noble hop presence against sweetness. A very enjoyable offering, and spot on style example; though lacking the usual yeast sediment haze.
