mexican lager, just okay, which is kind of what i guess is the standard for these guys, i keep trying to get into their stuff, and am seeing more and more of it around town so something must be going right, but with the exception of their amber recently, which was excellent, everything has been kind of middling. this is fizzy but thin, grainy but not really mexican to me in any way, not sure if there is corn in here or not, if they used mexican lager yeast its awfully subtle, and it almost drinks like a confused pils, wanted a bit more from this in terms of flavor, balance, and refreshment value. that said, im glad there is some grain character, a crackery pils base that brings quite a lot, and the hops in here keep it balanced, dry enough at the end too, just sort of lacking a soul, and even with the bubbles it feels a little watery to me. as it warms i get light metallic character, soap, and a husky thing from the grain, seems like this could benefit from a little more attention to detail. it does not compete with the best examples of the style available in this market, but as a mindless patio drinker it does just fine, and worked for me well enough with mexican food, but there are better options, frankly including the macro imported stuff. not giving up on these guys, but its time to step up on the quality side...

Draft at brewery. Very pale gold with a small creamy head. Grainy aroma, not too much corn detectable. Taste is also all about the grains/malts. Smooth and tasty and exceptionally light.
