Teays River Heartbreaker IIPA purchased last week at Bedrock Liquors in Battleground, Indiana. No indication of brewing date.
A-the beer is a golden color moderately hazy poured into Spigelau glass with 2 finger moderate cumulus pale beige head that leaves a lip as it settles. After five minutes of sipping the bubbles settle mostly to a ring on the edge with a spiral white like galaxy holding the middle of the glass, lazy lacing icing the glass.
S- there are moderate aromas of pine and stonefruit, Graham, herbs
T- a blast of citrus opens the palate: juicy tangerine gives way to rosemary which fades to apricot, ginger, mango, caramel malt and light fruity syrup. The hops and malts balance with a persistent juicy brightness throughout
M- Feels medium to light with moderately light carbonation tingling the edges of the tongue. A subtle and pleasant oiliness
D- very nice IIPA with good strength, body, and flavor complexity to conceal its heat. Not one for me to crush, but would eagerly sip all four seasons. Makes me want to try other Teay’s and visit the taproom next trip to the Hoosier State.
