At my lady Pamela's house; canned and chilled, from the University Ave. West LCBO in nearby downtown Windsor. My first beer from the Toronto, Ontario brewery.

473 mL can from the LCBO; dated May 10 2024 and served slightly chilled. This is Beaches Brewing's take on an Australian Sparkling Ale, a style I am not at all familiar with.
Pours clear and effervescent, its orange amber-hued body capped with two fingers of soapy, foamy off white-coloured head that seeps away over the next five minutes or so. A creamy collar and frothy cap survive, with a respectable swath of lace deposited onto the glass - looks good so far. Bready, grainy malts and light caramel on the nose, with suggestions of earthy, floral hops.
It tastes alright - relatively malt-forward, featuring notes of bready, biscuity malts and honey sweetness accented with orchard fruit and earthy, leafy hops later on. Not a lot of development beyond that: it finishes with leafy hops and biscuity malt sweetness that dissipates into a dry-ish aftertaste. Light in body, with aggressive carbonation, especially at first: a crisp sharp bite early in the session, taking on a smoother mouthfeel as the bubbles exhaust themselves. Easy to knock back.
Final Grade: 3.56, a decent B grade. Having had little to no previous experience with Australian sparkling ales, I'm in no position to judge whether or not Budgie Smuggler is a good example of that style. Speaking more generally, I do think it's a serviceable pale-ish ale - I finished my glass easily enough, and could feasibly have a couple of these in a row. Worth a shot, especially if you have an appreciation for maltier pale ales; I'll likely drink this again some time, and plan to pair it with fish 'n chips.

473ml can served cold into a chalice. LCBO purchase for around $3.60 CDN.
Appearance - Dark gold, with pink and copper hues. A finger plus of loose white head on top. Good staying power. Great clarity.
Smell - Muted hops aromas, some light peachy aroma too and more floral than most. Quite sweet on the nose.
Taste - Matches up with the nose, with low bitterness, hints of peach and other stone fruits and mild malt backbone.
Mouthfeel - Fairly crisp with good carbonation and semi-dry finish. Probably the highlight of this brew.
Overall - I wanted to like this more than I did. Everything is just fine, just was left wishing for a little more bitterness and contrast to the one fairly sweet and fairly fruity note that is played here.
