We collected the finest Continental and New World barleys for a rich, bready, toasted malt profile and paired them with the crisp herbal hop character of German Hallertau Mittelfrüh hops and the exceptionally clean profile of Danish yeast. Aged on lightly toasted American Sugar Maple spirals for an unforgettable taste experience that's sure to be.

Spacht on.

16oz can into a Shy Bear glass. No freshness dating.

Darkest dark brown possible. Small off white head shrinks to a ring, flecks of lacing. Pleasing earthy malty aroma. On tasting, good body, light roast, decent sweetness, faint earth bitterness. Finish is the star here, clean as can be with a combination earthy malt light bitter note. Not a trace of aftertaste.

Overall, an outstanding dark lager.

I am sampling a 16 oz can poured into a snifter. Not the best glassware, but its what I have available while away for the Holidays. I picked up this beer at the local beer shop here in southcentral PA. No date stamping on the can or the label.
The beer pours a clear cola color with a fluffy beige head of 2.5 cm and this foam faded to a sturdy edge layer and one large swirling island in the center of my glass. Very dense clingy lattice on the glass with swirls and each time I take a sip.
Aroma is some toasted malts and a bit of light anice note mixing with mild brown sugar. Maybe a little earthy hop note, but buried behind the malt profile.
First sip reveals a medium to light body with smooth to watery texture. Very easy drinking beer. Carbonation is mild, very fine and gently rolls across my palate.
Flavor is what is advertised by the nose. I get some toasted dark bread notes, almost like a rye toast flavor, some light toffee and a little anice note here too. Never any hint of the ABV, and here the hop note doesnt show really either. The dark malts carry the flavor profile.
Glad to have tried this one and I enjoy it quite a bit, glad to have tried this from a new to me brewery.

The brewer's description is spot on! I'm so glad that good lagers are really starting to hit their stride!
