On tap at Mortalis Brewing Co in Avon, NY.
This one pours a fairly dark brown color, with a small head, and not much lacing.
This smells like bittersweet caramel, peat, toast, raisin, plum, and chocolate.
The booze is hidden very, very well here, with big sticky malt tones- caramel, toasted bread, and a hint of peat and smoke- it's done very much to style here. There's also some sticky dark fruit- plum jelly and dried raisin mainly.
This is medium bodied and finishes fairly cleanly, with a lower level of carbonation, and a good level of drinkability.
It's definitely cool to see that Mortalis is capable of making really well done beers in a more traditional sense, and their modus operandi up until this point has been abject adjunctery, done super well.
