This Imperial Coffee Stout is brewed with a favorite local coffee and then aged in a Weller Special Reserve barrel for 13 months. It is full-bodied with loads of coffee and then finishes with flavors of bourbon, cinnamon, pecan, maple, chocolate, leather and vanilla.

This one pours a very dark black color, with a small head, and a little bit of lacing.
This smells like fudge, pecan, caramel, maple, oaky vanilla, wheaty bourbon, and leather.
The coffee in the base beer is so dynamic and hard to ignore, so it takes a second to adjust the palate for this one, as the barrel is very strong here. The barrel character in this is dynamite, with vanilla, some bittersweet coconut, leather, and caramel all seemingly coming from the barrel. The coffee is definitely more apparent on the nose here, but as it warms up a bit, those classic Jamaican Me Crazy coffee flavors come through more strongly - maple, pecan and sweet nuttiness, and some cinnamon and caramel.
This is medium bodied, very creamy and silky, with absolutely no booziness to it. It goes down so easily.
This shows more restraint and balance, and is much drier and less sweet than I expected from Mortalis. The barrel character is wonderful, but I think I honestly prefer the regular As Above So Below for that unforgettable coffee character that is just upfront and uninterrupted.
