This Fruited Sour blends raspberry, blueberry, and grape together to form just one of this monster’s many heads. Keep your eyes peeled for even more flavor combinations.

16oz. can into a Founders snifter.

Dark purple. Muddy. Nose is big blueberry and grape notes. The raspberry is actually kind of muted here. Super juicy, pulpy, and grape...y. Beer opens fresh purple grapes, haribo gummy, and sweet cream and sugar. Another sip yields raspberry and blueberry seedy tartness. More pulpy towards the end. Sweet and tart gummy finish. Body is full with low to moderate carbonation. Pulpy and chunky on the palate and goes down messy with a lingering, sweet, and filmy finish.

Pretty good. I like the grape presence in the smoothie sour style. Still not beer though.

Pours thick and pulpy from the can. Dark raspberry red color with a thick, densely packed, lighter red color head. The foam collects on top of the beer like the pulp in a glass of home style juice. Lots of lacing as I drink the beer. The color is an absolute wonder.

Smell, each of the three fruits comes through. Most noticeable is the grape. Not because it’s overpowering, but rather because it’s so distinct. There is crushed blueberry and raspberry, with a grape juice aroma.

The taste is semi sweet marrying well the sweet ripened aspect of raspberry and blueberry with the sour flavors. The grape is also present.

The feel is thick and coats the mouth.

This beer has a time and place for me. It’s not my favorite style, but I do enjoy it from time to time. It’s a great accompaniment to breakfast or brunch on a sunny weekend morning. And Mortalis absolutely nails it. I think the grape absolutely makes this beer. Without it, this would be a typical thick berry sour beer. Grape is not used very much in my experience and really takes this one to a different place.

This one pours a very gloopy looking dark purplish color, with a small head, and not much lacing.

This smells mostly like tart, seedy, raspberry, with sweet blueberry pie filling, and just enough grape to not be overwhelming.

I like this one better with than Beer Nerds, as the grape is a bit more subtle here. There's definitely more of both of the berries here, with that big dark seediness and jamminess. There's no acidity here, mostly just jammy sweetness.

This is creamy, smoothie-like, and super thick and gloopy. Its got the typical mouthfeel of all the Hydras.

Mortalis certainly does this style well.
