DATE: May 7, 2021... OCCASION: pre-work for next week's yard sale completed, it is time to recharge with a beer I have left waiting since the EBF... GLASSWARE: Lindemans pokal... explodes with a teeming, red velvet cake-like body that can be heard from arm's length... its head is thick, clumpy, half-fingered and substantial... its glass displays residue that clumps as well, crafting retention that holds throughout... a bold, aromatic musk that channels cherry and raspberry, with garden herbs and roses... creamy, acidic and milky... a strong, coating presence ensures its finish is lasting and warming... lively at the teeth... a dessertif that masquerades as an appertif, its weight belies its ABV... its fruit is boozy, a smoothie that is massive in its impact and deep in its strawberry and cherry... the mango is hinted, but not clear... my goodness, this is like candy--amazing flavor, and addictive sippability engage the drinker... this is one of the best of the fest... worth waiting for

2021 16 oz can. Holy hell. This is literally a smoothie. It smells like a smoothie. It looks like a smoothie. It drinks like a smoothie. Poured cold and hard to a Teku, there is no head at first, but after the pour you get a surprise swell of a 1/2 finger foamy layer. The aroma is impeccable. So fragrant and fruity sweet. First sips are also impeccable. The flavors blend perfectly...not as in a morphed, singular flavor, but a harmony of each flavor, each identifiable and each adding to the overall burst. Mouthfeel is chunky purée, literally blended fruit smoothie territory, not some hyped “oh, this is like a smoothie.” It’s thick...or thicc...throw some protein in this bad boy and it becomes health food. It might already be healthy with all those antioxidants. No alcohol bite, no warming...at first. This was much too easy to knock back. Then, after I found the liquid missing, I got a pretty big hit of warmth. It’s only 7%, but maybe the sour yeast strain hit me a little differently...flushed cheeks and hot ears!

I say it all the time: I prefer stouts and barleywines. However, this is a serious competitor for shelf space. An excellent drink!
