This Fruited Sour has both candy and fruit packed into the can. Sweet cherry, raspberry, orange, pineapple, lemon, and lime puree were blended with sour patch kids for a sweet but also tart treat.

Sour Gummy Kids has a dull, dark, magenta color and is very muddy. A brief, sloppy froth forms above, leaving quite a mess on the glass.

The raspberries come across prominently, while blueberries may be apparent upon second whiff.

While extremely fruity, the prerequisite of "beer flavor" is still apparent. The raspberry simply doesn't relinquish much ground. What it does yield allows blueberries to become perceptible. Sweetness is, thankfully, well controlled by light tartness that adds to a modestly puckering finish. Warmth eventually brings out cherries and limes.

The body is dense, with the texture of plush fur. Alcohol is dramatically below expectation, while the carbonation is light.

So far as Fruit Smoothy beers go, this one is top notch and definitely more of a dessert or brunch beer. I could easily see this being a hit at a garden party.

I’m not impressed. Something about it just tastes off. It tastes like some sort of V8 smoothie. It’s almost medical tasting. I don’t think this is anything close to beer. Primary notes are strawberries.

16oz. can into a Side Project snifter. Shared by schen9303.

This one's muddy. Looks like raspberry, strawberry, and grape puree that was just juiced. Nose is the same but there's a distinct lemon and lime freshness. Definitely a nice preview of what's in store. Beer opens raspberry and strawberry sweetness. There's a nice seediness as well. Great balance though more sweet than tart. Lime accents make this one taste very fresh. Slightly tart and juicy finish. Delicious. Body is medium with ample carbonation and a ton of pulp. Juicy finish with a lingering aftertaste.

Great flavor combination here. The lemon-lime addition really accents the berry flavors.

Drank from a 1 pint / 16 fl. oz. can purchased at Fort Point Market, Boston, MA

Served in a tulip

The liquid poured a murky mauve color and was topped by a sticky, bubbly, blush pink crown that quickly dissolved. Small white particles floated throughout the body. Perhaps this was not the most attractive beer. A wall of fine sediment coated the glass after each sip.

The aroma was interesting. Tropical fruit punch came to mind. Quite sweet but also tart and tangy. Cherry was most apparent. Lime notes came through strong as well. Lots of tangerine too. Hint of pineapple. Generic berry notes were later detectable. I also picked up an odd, fruity sweetness, probably from the addition of Sour Patch Kids.

Like the nose, the flavor profile was rather unique. Tropical fruit punch notes again dominated. Cherry came through strongest. Lots of tangy lime too. Orange and tangerine notes appeared as the beer moved along the palate. Touch of pineapple as well. More zesty lime and lime peel on the back end and the finish.

Nice rich, fuller bodied mouthfeel. Creamy and somewhat slippery on the palate. The liquid contained a fine, somewhat spritzy effervescence that mellowed with time.

Up until this beer, I was absolutely blown away by all of Mortalis’s fruited sours. Sour Gummy Kids, however, was somewhat of a strange offering. While the Sour Patch Kids might have been a fun and kitschy concept, they definitely seemed to detract from the purity of the fruit additions.
