This Russian Imperial Stout is brewed with a long duration boil and layers of specialty grains. This version has been aged for one year in a Buffalo Trace barrel. Then, we conditioned the beer on a pound of Madagascar vanilla beans per barrel of beer. The silky smooth body is matched with notes of dark fruits, toffee, charred oak, and creamy sweet vanilla. Heed the darkness and shadows.

This one pours a fairly dark black color, with a small head, and not much lacing.
This smells like sweet, sticky vanilla, caramel, bourbon, chocolate fudge, oak, and more vanilla.
There's a lot of vanilla, but this manages to avoid a cloying character. The barrel character is really pleasant and very strongly represented in the entire flavor profile. There's caramel, chocolate fudge, char, and brown sugar here, along with oak and bourbon.
This is medium bodied, silky, creamy, and rich, with no real booziness to it.
This is probably the best Mortalis BA stout since Ophion. It's a real treat.
