This Imperial Coffee Stout is brewed with a favorite local coffee. It is full-bodied with loads of coffee and then finishes with hints of rum, cinnamon, pecan, and chocolate. We have added an additional layer of flavor by conditioning the beer on Madagascar Vanilla beans.

16oz can from Tavour. Flat black pour, thin ring of beige head. Aroma resembles peanut butter at first, the vanilla and light coffee notes blossoming in the taste. Creamy, luscious, decadent.

Probably their best non-BA AASB yet.

Poured from a can at fridge temp. Pours a super thick black and looks almost still. The nose is bursting immediately with coffee notes. Definitely sensing a bit of vanilla, but the coffee is dominant for sure. Also getting dark chocolate and some nice dark roasted malts. Very nice.
The taste is fantastic. Intense coffee comes through first, and damn is this ever nice coffee. Perfectly integrated and really balances out the other flavors. Vanilla is also quite strong, along with dark molasses, chocolate, slight dark berry fruit, a hint of brown sugar, and maple candy. I'm also getting a hint of cinnamon. This is sweet, but definitely not cloying.
The mouthfeel is a beast. Thick and creamy. The aftertaste is coffee and maple doughnut. Excellent stout!

This one pours a very dark black color, with a big fluffy and long-lasting head, and lots of lacing.
Like the regular AASB, the aroma on this one is intoxicating - with candied pecan, rum, dark grade maple syrup, and roasty coffee. The addition of sweet vanilla is also quite good here.
The regular As Above So Below still might be the best stout (and beer in general) Mortalis has ever produced, but this is a nice variant that works better for me than the Marshmallow variant (which was still very good). All of the typical flavor notes from the coffee are there, with maybe more of an emphasis on sweet maple/brown sugar type flavors? That aspect, plus the vanilla addition, definitely makes this a hair sweeter than the typical AASB can.
This is thick, chewy, and creamy, with a great mouthfeel, and a great drinkability.
This is just spot on, and a really nice take on a now Rochester (area) classic.
