This Imperial stout was brewed exclusively for Rochester Elite Barrel Pickers. Aged in both Perun I and Perun II small format Hillrock Rye barrels for 249 days before packaging, this adjunct free stout allows for the character of both barrels to shine. Notes of chocolate covered cherries, vanilla, caramel, and sweet butterscotch.

absolutely insane beer, i assume quite rare too, a very generously shared bottle by my buddy, it was so wonderful to catch up with him over this monster, wow. hard to believe there are no adjuncts in here, i would have guessed cocoa nibs and maple syrup, the texture is straight syrup, hardly even liquid, about as viscous as any beer i have ever put in my mouth, like jelly, stout jelly, just crazy. the viscosity is downright intimidating, and the packaging kind of is too, a really beautiful bottle this one is! it smells and tastes like all kinds of things in the glass, spicy rye whiskey and super roasty dark barley in the espresso vein are chief among them, but things like rum raisin, fig, toasted coconut, leather, and tobacco are also here in a big way, and cocoa, vanilla, black tea, even chocolate orange and cognac are present as well to my palate, its super alcoholic, but its complex as can be and the booze seems like a necessary element to me. the barrel treatment is awesome, its almost candied this whole thing, and the whiskey nuance is crazy in here, definitely high end, earthy and mineral forward, lots and lots of rich wood tones. its hard to drink more than a taster sized glass of this, its so sweet, molasses and honey and big maple syrup character to it, more than i want even, like there is just a ton of beer in this little bottle. its a one of a kind drink, again shocking that its just beer and barrel without additives, challenging, but from a quality standpoint this could have come from one of the big boys. really excited about these guys now, hope to get into more of their stuff when i am back east next. this was unforgettably intense, thanks again to my boy for the share!

This one pours a very dark black color, with a small head, and not much lacing.
This smells like cherry cordials, with milk chocolate, caramel, butterscotch, oak, vanilla, and rye.
This is possibly the thickest tasting Mortalis stout that I've had yet. The immediate impression is chocolate covered cherries, or cherry cordial candies. As the beer warms, the sweetness subsides a hair and you get some rye and oak spice on the back end. There's also a decent bit of caramel and vanilla.
This is super thick and chewy, and very creamy, with no real boozy character to it at all.
This is super unique, and I really appreciate that distinct cherry note.
