This Imperial Stout was brewed for Livingston County's bicentennial. The viscous base stout was conditioned on Madagascar vanilla beans, Mostra Ethiopian Anaerobic Honeyed Coffee, Dominican cocoa nibs, and flaked granola. Flavors of chocolate vanilla swirl and granola coffee crunch are matched with a thick mouthfeel. Cheers to 200 years.

This one pours a very dark black color, with a very small head, and not much lacing.

This smells like espresso, caramel, honey, vanilla, and milk chocolate.

Mortalis is always gonna do coffee stouts well. The coffee comes across with caramel, honey, vanilla, espresso, and a sort of spiced character. I don't get much granola - but maybe that's the spice and honey flavors? There's a nice thick milk chocolate backbone to all of this.

This is thick, creamy, and very drinkable. Like pretty much all of their stouts, there's no booziness here.

I'd maybe prefer just the coffee as the only "adjunct" in this one, but you can't deny how delicious this is.

Sure, their sours are excellent, but their stouts…come on…world class!
Despite it not being a barrel aged beer, this 2021 hits on all cylinders. Nose is dark chocolate, with a rising note of vanilla. Pours dark as new moon night, barely any head. Flavor is perfect for an autumn, back deck sipper. Dark chocolate, general creaminess, vanilla, coconut fullness…it’s just sublime! While I typically think BBA stouts are the pinnacle of the style, there are these desserty-but-not-really types that just serve as examples of delicious and professional beer-making! It’s sold out now, but I’m glad I bought 8-16 ounces!
